Andrew Clarke

Why hire me?

I know what I'm doing.
I've been working on internet sites for a long time--since 1995.  I've been online since 1991, which is less time than some people but more than most.  In that time, I've picked up an impressive array of technical acronyms, but just as importantly I have learned from a business standpoint what doesn't work, and what does.

Consulting is my full-time job.
I'm available during working hours.  If we're in significantly different time zones, I'll still make myself available during your working hours when necessary.  You don't have to schedule meetings with me when my boss isn't looking, or after work.  I've been successfully running my own consulting business full-time for over 10 years, so I know how to successfully deliver for you.

I've probably done it before.
Whether it's developing a cloud-based systems architecture, interfacing with an API, securing credit card data, streamlining a shopping cart process, or troubleshooting a particularly difficult technical problem, the odds are that I've seen it before.  Each project brings its new challenges and nuances, but I bring a lot of valuable experience when solving a difficult problem.

I'm easy to get along with.
You'll have to judge this one for yourself, but I'm an optimistic person with a realistic but positive attitude.  I have a sense of humour and easily fit in with whatever type of team you have assembled.

I'm flexible.
In the last couple months before writing this, I've worked from my home office, coffee shops, hotel rooms, spare conference rooms, training rooms, server rooms, or in no room at all.  I've had to get up at 02:00 on a Sunday morning to meet server maintenance windows or 05:00 to meet clients 8 time zones away.  I've teleconferenced, met clients at their office or in restaurants in Europe, North America and the Middle East.  I'll work with you (within reason!) the way that works best for you.

I'm discreet.
I'm not going to blab to you about another client's problems, and I'm not going to blab to someone else about yours (not that you have any).  My job as a consultant is to solve problems that you've identified, and to help you get your business running more effectively and profitably.  Whether or not you ask me to sign an NDA, I will take your security and privacy seriously.
